SHE Conference: Raising Venture Capital: Norwegian and International Funds Compared

Fasade
- , Thommessen, Ruseløkkveien 38, 12th floor, Oslo

What Founders Need to Know When Fundraising Across Markets. Fundraising is no longer simply a question of finding capital – it is a question of finding the right capital, on the right terms, from investors with the right expectations.

For Norwegian founders, the investor universe increasingly extends beyond Norway. But raising capital from Norwegian funds can be very different from raising capital from international VC funds. Fund structures, investment mandates, decision-making processes, risk appetite, ownership expectations, term sheets and founder–investor dynamics may vary significantly across markets.

In this session, we will explore what these differences mean in practice. How do Norwegian and international funds assess opportunities? What do they expect from founders? How do deal terms, governance rights and follow-on investment strategies differ? And what should founders consider when choosing among local investors, international investors and a syndicate combining both?

Together with Lumo Labs, Sandwater and Shapemaker, Thommessen will host a practical conversation about raising capital from Norwegian and international venture capital funds, focusing on the legal, commercial and strategic issues that founders and investors should understand.

This session is relevant for founders preparing to raise capital, investors looking at cross-border opportunities and advisers working with growth companies in an increasingly international venture capital market.
