Christian Hals has been appointed Managing Partner of Advokatfirmaet Thommessen. He succeeds Sverre Tyrhaug, who is stepping down after 13 years in the role to become CEO of ABG Sundal Collier.

Over time, Christian has demonstrated that, in addition to being one of the leading lawyers in his field, he has the qualities required to lead and further develop the firm. The partnership is therefore united in its support for the appointment of Christian as our new Managing Partner, says Baard Bale, Chair of the Board.

Christian Hals joined Thommessen as an Associate in 2009. He became a Partner in 2018 and has built a strong practice in M&A, with particular expertise in infrastructure and energy. Alongside his legal practice, he has held a number of key leadership roles within the firm, including as a member of the Board, head of a practice group and department, and member of the firm’s management team.

He takes up the role of Managing Partner today, 28 September 2026.
Tyrhaug will remain with Thommessen during a transition period before taking up the role of CEO of ABG Sundal Collier later this autumn.
