We congratulate our partner Henrik Hagberg on the appointment as co-chair of the International Bar Association's Maritime and Transport Law Committee.
Henrik has served as an officer on the committee for several years, and will in the period 2023 – 2025 co-chair the committee together with Ulla von Weissenberg of Procopé & Hornborg Attorneys Ltd.
- I look forward to continuing the work in the IBA Maritime and Transport Law Committee together with my co-chair Ulla von Weissenberg and all the other officers", says Henrik. "The Maritime and Transport Law Committee was the very first specialized group for individual IBA members, established in 1971 under the name of 'Committee A'. The committee, in its current shape and form, benefits enormously from the efforts and hard work by the former chairs and officers, not the least the tremendous efforts by the immediate past chairs Corina Song and Johannes Grove Nielsen, who set the course and navigated the committee safely through the difficult Covid-19 pandemic years. In their capacity as co-chairs, Corina and Johannes even undertook the task of commissioning the commemorative book 'Sea Change' documenting the history of the committee from 1971 to 2021, says Henrik.
The International Bar Association was established in 1947 and is the foremost organisation for international legal practitioners, bar associations and law societies. The IBA currently has around 80,000 individual members and some 190 bar associations and law societies. The IBA Maritime and Transport Law Committee has more than 650 members worldwide. The committee arranges a number of sessions at the annual conferences of the IBA as well as bi-annual specialist conferences. The committee regularly also publishes newsletters on current issues within international maritime and transport law.
