Emilie Falch, Specialist Counsel Advokat, Solicitor (England & Wales)
Emilie Falch is a Specialist Counsel at Thommessen and an experienced shipping lawyer in the firm's shipping and offshore department. She is qualified as both an English solicitor and a Norwegian lawyer. Emilie advises a wide range of clients, including shipowners, charterers, managers, brokers, shipyards, insurance companies and financial institutions.
She advises across the full breadth of maritime law and related issues and regularly works with charterparties, bills of lading, management agreements, shipbuilding contracts, sale and purchase of vessels as well as financing and dispute resolution. Emilie has extensive experience with cover issues, cover disputes and other insurance law matters under all types of covers (H&M, P&I, FD&D, cargo, war, loss of hire as well as offshore and energy insurance). She also advises on recovery claims and drafts insurance policy terms.
Before joining Thommessen, Emilie spent several years with Wikborg Rein's shipping and offshore departments in London and Oslo. She also has experience as in-house counsel at DNV and from marine insurance at Skuld (P&I and FD&D). This combination of experience from a commercial law firm, an in-house role and the insurance market enables her to provide practical, commercial and solutions-oriented advice.
Emilie is a board member of Incentra SA, a member of Juristenes Utdanningssenter's specialist committee for shipping and offshore, and serves as an external examiner in English contract law at the University of Oslo.
