“Widely recognised as one of the strongest practices in the Norwegian market, it has been another good year for the firm in this area, particularly in refinancing matters”, writes about our banking and finance team’s activity this year.

”One example of its work saw Hans Haugstad leading a team acting for a club of four banks led by DNB Bank in relation to the €555 million refinancing of Marine Harvest, the world’s largest producer of Atlantic salmon with operations in 13 jurisdictions.  [Einar] Grette, meanwhile was the lead partner as the firm advised another club of banks led by DNB Bank on the kr5 billion (€540 million) refinancing of Norgani Hotels, a part of the Swedish Pandox group, which involved matters in all four Nordic countries”.

”Elsewhere, Jo Rodin and Halvor Mansåker led a team assisting Nordea Bank Finland and Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB) with the debt restructuring of Eitzen Chemical which saw $850 million of bank and bond debt converted into equity and a further $43 million repaid with the proceeds of a new $100 million revolving credit and term loan facility, where SEB acted as the agent”.

Our capital markets team is also widely mentioned:

”On the capital markets side, Ervin Auren this year led a team advising Entra, an owner, manager and developer of office properties in Norway, in connection with its kr 2.7 billion IPO. Anders Arnkværn, meanwhile, was in charge of a team assisting DNB Markets, BNP Paribas, JPMorgan, Nordea Markets and SEB as the underwriters and joint bookrunners of the $500 million underwritten rights issue by Det norske oljeselskap”.

IFLR 1000 notes the following about Thommessens M&A practice:

“The M&A team this year acted as Norwegian counsel to Cinven Partners in connection with its purchase of a 31.3% stake in Visma, alongside HgCapital and KKR, with Anders Arnkværn taking the lead. Halvor Mansåker, meanwhile, was in charge as the firm assisted Telenor Broadcast in its sale of Conax to the Kudelski Group in a structured sales process with a total value of kr1.5 billion”.

”Elsewhere, Hans Cappelen Arnesen was in charge as the team acted for Get and its shareholders, Goldman Sachs Capital Partners and Quadrangle, in the full dual track exit process for the fibre-based broadband and content provider Get, which was eventually bought by TDC for €1.67 million”.
