Dr. Leigh Hancher, Dr. Adrien de Hauteclocque and Dr. Francesco Maria Salerno are editors of a new multi-authored volume, State Aid in the Energy Sector, from Hart Publishing. Svein Terje Tveit and Jens Bibow from Thommessen have written the chapter on EEA and state aid in the energy sector.

The recent Norwegian newspaper articles concerning the refund scheme for exploration costs, the CO2 state aid and the Norwegian R&D&I tax incentive scheme "Skattefunn" illustrate the importance of state aid in particular in the energy sector.

This important new work offers a comprehensive and compelling account of State aid and policy and its application to the energy sector, from both a legal and economic perspective. It delves into issues such as price regulation and taxation, before considering the criteria for compatibility with capacity mechanisms, RES, projects of common interest, and services of general economic interest.

The chapter on state aid in the EEA energy sector provides a systematic overview of the particularities of the EEA-agreement within state aid, a presentation of the EFTA-states' energy market and a comprehensive analysis of the enforcement of state aid in the energy sector in Norway and the other EFTA-countries.

The book is intended for all practitioners in the field, including in-house lawyers and management in energy companies.
