Financial Regulation

The financial crisis challenged our confidence in financial institutions and investment firms worldwide. To counter this, the government adopted comprehensive measures to strengthen the public regulations of banks, securities firms and insurance companies. There are few signs indicating that the regulation of the financial markets will decline in the future.

Thommessen was one of the first law firms that named financial regulation as its own area of expertise. We assist in all questions relating to compliance: designing of license applications, giving advice on ongoing activities and assisting in connection with the supervision of the Financial Supervisory Authority.

Our lawyers have extensive practical experience from working with legislation, advising major clients in the financial services industry and working on concession matters. In addition, we have extensive experience when it comes to adapting to the new EU framework in banking, insurance, fund management and securities trading.
