Working as a trainee at Thommessen allows you to gain a valuable insight into what it is like to work as a lawyer at a leading business law firm. Our trainees get to work with real cases in a very strong professional environment. The majority of the associates we recruit straight out of university have previously been trainees with us.

Who can apply?
All students who have completed at least two years of law studies can apply for a trainee position here. We are looking for gifted, enthusiastic and social students. We place emphasis on good grades and view it as positive if you have experience from voluntary work or positions of trust.

Professional and social involvement
As a trainee at Thommessen you will be assigned to a department and involved in cases as if you were an associate. Our trainees participate in client meetings and internal meetings, and can also attend court sessions. You will be assigned to a mentor who will provide you with guidance and ensure you receive varied work tasks from which you will experience a high level of professional gain. The mentor will also help to make you feel at home here and will make sure that you become a natural part of our social environment. When you have been a trainee here you will also be invited to our trainee dinners and other events such as trips to the firm’s cabin etc.

One or several periods
A trainee period usually lasts for four weeks. When the period is over we will have an evaluation discussion with you in which we, among other things, talk about your future opportunities with us. You can apply for several trainee periods. We will offer you a competitive salary during your trainee period.

How to apply?
We continuously accept applications and carry our interviews.  We reply to all applicants within a reasonable time. The interviews are held about half a year before the period commences, so you should send in your application well in advance before the desired period.
