In addition, you can meet our lecturers at the University or participate in any of the arrangements which we invite students to. We have a strong interest in law students and arrange a number of events for you during the year.

Methodology courses
Each spring and autumn we hold methodology courses for first year students in Oslo and Bergen. The courses provide a practical introduction to legal methodology which will help you in an exam situation. This is based primarily on task solutions. Our course supervisors have a high level of expertise in the practical application and dissemination of legal methodology. They have backgrounds in educational guidance, lecturing and extensive procedural experience. The methodology courses are very popular with students.

Thommessen Day
In the spring and in the autumn, in Oslo and Bergen, we hold a professional half-day seminar which is aimed at those of you who have progressed to a certain level in your studies. Between 80 and 100 students are given the opportunity to participate in tutorials with exam related topics. Our experienced lawyers are the lecturers. The seminar is concluded with a social event with food and drink at one of the city’s hotspots.

Scholarship and office access
Thommessen offers scholarships of 30,000 Norwegian Kroner to selected students who will write their dissertations. Scholarship recipients will be provided with access to an office and one of our lawyers will serve as teaching supervisor. We gladly assist in finding a suitable dissertation topic. Students who receive office access at Thommessen will not be assigned other work tasks during the period in which the dissertation is being written.

As a scholarship recipient you will of course have access to all our office facilities, including the library, legal databases and canteen. You will also be a natural part of all of Thommessen’s professional and social arrangements during the writing period such as departmental lunches and seminars, Thommessen School seminars, Friday beers, the annual party and summer party.

Support to student associations
For a number of years Thommessen has contributed financial and professional support to different activities that take place under the direction of the various student associations at the faculty. It gives us great satisfaction that we can also in this way participate in the everyday activities of the law students and contribute to a good study environment.
